2. Absence of the Effective Political Mechanisms to Secure Children Rights

Children are widely recognized as a holders of rights. There are a number of international policies that are aimed to protect children from violence, abuse, recruitment, and harmful labour. One of the main document in this regard is  “Convention for the Rights of the Child2”- the most widely ratified document in the world (see the list of other documents and policies in Policies section). However, the existence of child soldiers indicates the greatest failure of the states to protect and secure children right, allowing recruitment to take place.
